25 Students, 2 Teachers In Coma After Inhaling Fumes From Photolab

25 students and 2 teachers of Ogba Junior Secondary School, Lagos, yesterday, went into coma after inhaling a chemical waste allegedly discharged into drainage by a company, Bizcircuit Photo Laboratory, located a few metres from the school premises.

According to reports, the gas enveloped the school premises at noon when students and teachers were in the school, and they began to feel dizzy, with some of them collapsing after inhaling the emission from chemical spread to their school premises by air.

Following the incident, some of the teachers raised an alarm which attracted some members of the public, who immediately called officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency on their toll free lines.

The unconscious students and teachers were immediately rushed to Blue Cross Hospital, located opposite the shopping mall for urgent medical attention.

Two of the affected female students whose condition was critical were transferred in a Lagos State Emergency Ambulance marked LA 156 A08 to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH, in Ikeja.

One of the school's pupils, Adetayo Adekanbi, said: "We were in the classroom when we perceived the offensive gas and smoke clouding the entire premises. We never knew the gas was injurious.

"Immediately I noticed it, I ran towards the gate to escape inhaling the gas. But some of my mates became unconscious after inhaling the gas."

The Head of Logistic, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, Mr. Femi Giwa, said that of the 25 victims, four were in critical condition but responding to treatment.

Giwa said: "On arrival at the scene, we conducted a general assessment and discovered that certain liquid chemicals, with offensive and choking odour, used for production in the photo lab on the first floor of a shopping complex, could have led to the incident."

He said that Lagos State government immediately sealed the premises of the photo laboratory concerned and arrested three of its staff.

Giwa, however, assured that proper investigation would be conducted to analyse the chemical that gave off the offensive gas and its effect on the environment.

Also speaking, state Director of Fire and Safety Services, Mr. Rasaq Fadipe, said officials assisted the rescue team in controlling the chemical fumes from spreading further.

The 11 Differences Between Dating A Girl And A Woman

loveydovey

A boy is attracted to girls. A man is attracted to women. Now, this has nothing to do with the actual age of a person. I'm referring to maturity, life vision and stage of life. In fact, some people regardless of their age, will never really grow up. Also, this isn't to say that a woman won't ever have "girlish" or immature tendencies or vice versa. This post refers to one's maturity and most points would also apply if you switch the genders as well.

If you are a boy, then expect that you will attract only girls. However, if you are a man (independent, knows your worth and value, has a strong moral compass, is considerate and an able communicator and doesn't let insecurity dominate your psyche), then you should be dating a woman. And if you can't spot the difference just yet, here are some pointers:

1. A girl throws tantrums. When displeased, upset or angry, she reacts just as she did as a child when she didn't get her way with her parents. This often consists of screaming, pouting, giving the silent treatment, being passive, aggressive and/or punishing. A woman still feels the emotions of being upset/displeased, but has cultivated the skill of responding versus reacting. She comes to the table as an adult, and communicates clearly what is bothering her.

2. A girl perceives herself as a princess and believes people should treat her like so. She is entitled and feels that she is owed and therefore expects more than she appreciates. A woman, has standards (what she holds herself to) not expectations (what she projects on to others).

3. A girl uses her physical beauty as her currency and basis of value. A girl may be so used to feeling validated through her looks and se*uality, that she uses this as her primary tool to get what she wants in life. A woman, knows her worth is beyond her physicality. A woman bases her value on her intelligence, her strength, her integrity, her values, her contributions, her humanity.

4. A girl banks on a man to be her financial strategy. A woman plans to be financially independent — she banks on… herself. And if she so happens to enter a relationship dynamic where it makes sense for her partner to be the primary breadwinner, it's considered a bonus, not the expected life line.

5. A girl sees the world from a place of lack and scarcity. She competes and will even tear down another in order to secure resources or a mate. A woman helps other women. She knows that there's plenty enough to go around and takes the high road of integrity to get what she wants.

6. A girl cannot be bothered with anything domestic and is proud of the fact that she cannot cook or clean. A woman understands that being domestic is not a duty, but understands that it is one way of taking care of herself and others. She also understands that in the event she wants to create a family, having a person in the household who can contribute domestically is important.

7. "A girl wants attention, a woman wants respect. A girl wants to be adored by many. A woman wants to be adored by one." -anonymous

8. A girl does not respect her body. She has not yet understood that her body and heart are sacred, and that it's important to be mindful of how she treats it and who she shares it with.

9. A woman takes the time to reflect on the type of human she wants to be, the example she wants to leave and the vision for her life. She has put thought into her values and what she stands for. A girl has not established her moral compass or values and consequently, is often inconsistent.

10. A girl has a checklist that prioritizes superficial qualities above anything else. Here is an example of how this checklist may look: Hot, popular, wears skinny jeans, over six feet tall, rich.. This is the checklist of what a woman may look for: High integrity, intelligent, kind, good communicator, emotionally available…

Now, a lot of these differences require taking the time to know someone to figure out if the apple of your eye is indeed a mature woman, or someone with an immature mindset. However, one of the quickest filters that you can notice from the beginning is this:

11. A girl plays games. A woman doesn't.

4 Types of S*x to Avoid, No Matter How Good it Feels

S-E-X! It may be good for your heart, great for your mood and even work wonders on your skin, but not all types offer the same benefits.

Sometimes s*x can make a bad situation worse and leave you wishing you hadn't wasted your good underwear & clean sheets on a brief fling with s*xual mediocrity.

Here are the 4 types of s*x to avoid at all cost.

Break-Up s*x: It may seem appealing to take one last ride on that pony for old time's sake, but the consequences will likely outweigh the benefits. You're breaking up, which means something isn't working. And even if s*x isn't the cause of your break-up, it can complicate an already delicate situation. For instance, it's easy for your partner to misconstrue your intentions. When it comes to break-up s*x, you don't want your "It has been a pleasure doing business with you," to be misinterpreted for a "Thank you. Come again!" Even if you're the type who makes your intentions crystal clear, science still offers warnings against break-up s*x. Romantic rejection and heartbreak trigger the same parts of the brain associated with pain, distress and addiction. It takes time to reduce these triggers and when the wound is fresh, you don't want to train your body to link s*x with these conditions.

Drunk s*x: A few drinks may loosen you up and help you to shed your inhibitions, but be sure to limit how many glasses you down as you may end up shedding and downing more than you bargained for. "Bottom's up" may be in good fun at the bar, but you need to decide whether you're open to letting it take on a whole new meaning bedside. If you plan on drinking, bear in mind that alcohol impairs your judgment. Booze goggles not only cause light-of-day regret the following morning, but also reduce the likelihood of using condoms and other safer s*x tools – so plan ahead. And that liquid confidence may seemingly improve your performance on the dance floor, but it can have the opposite effect sexually. Alcohol impacts your body's s*xual response and circulation making erections and lubrication harder to come by.

Self-Pity s*x (The One Night Stand): If you're having a little pity party for yourself and think that a one-night stand will elevate your spirits, you may want to think again – especially if you're a woman. While a one-time roll in the hay (or nightclub restroom stall) can be fun for some, women seem to get the short end of the stick when it comes to casual s*x. And the short sticks aren't to blame. Research shows that over half (54 per cent) of women often feel disappointed by one-night stands and report high levels of regret the morning after. On the other hand, 80 per cent of men feel positively about the experience and say that it helps them to blow off some steam. Steam? Is that what they're calling it these days? So before you take the plunge and turn to casual s*x to lift your spirits, be sure to consider other ways to crash the pity party.

Make-Up s*x: Experts are split on this one and you can decide for yourself whether make-up s*x works for you. Some psychologists believe that it rewards fighting, drama and generally bad behaviour. They suggest that couples are dealing with intensely negative emotions and instead of finding a resolution, they seek an opposite experience (pleasure) in s*x. They argue that this type of s*x isn't "real intimacy" and that it can lead to loneliness and the belief that everything can be fixed with s*x. What a world it would be if this were true!

If you find yourself enticed by these four types of s*x, you may want to take a moment to reconsider. And if you're still tempted, at least consider the laundry!

School Girls Confess To Being Devil Worshippers, They Are Expelled From School

Rift Valley, Kenya: Two secondary school girls have been expelled after they allegedly confessed that they were devil worshippers.

Parents at Tulwo Girls High School yesterday resolved to send home the two and directed the school administration not to readmit them.

The parents and teachers association chairman, Mr Josephat Serem, said the decision was arrived at to reduce tension in the school.

He said the girls confessed that they were devil worshippers to fellow students.

They had been locked in a room for prayers before Nandi secondary teachers' union leader Paul Rotich stormed the school and rescued them and took them to hospital.

Stop Killing In The Name Of Islam – Sultan Of Sokoto

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar III, Tuesday called on perpetrators of violence in the North to stop killing in the name of religion.

The sultan, while receiving in his palace in Sokoto a delegation led by a former Head of State, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar, said Islam abhorred the killing of innocent people without following due legal process.

According to him, the senseless killings of innocent citizens by insurgents was un-Islamic and should stop forthwith.

The Sultan added that such killings have nothing to do with Islam and as such, the Sultanate Council dissociated itself from those perpetrating such dastardly acts.

"Islam abhors killing of innocent souls unless through legal process where the court has sentenced an individual to death for a crime committed in line with Islamic law.

"So, I am calling on those perpetrating such killings in the name of Islam to stop such nefarious acts because what they are doing has nothing to do with Islam and we therefore, dissociate ourselves from such dastardly acts," he said.

The sultan also stressed the need for Muslims to learn to live peacefully with their Christian brothers for peace to reign in the polity.

He explained that they could, through their good conduct and adherence to Islamic tenets, persuade adherents of other religions to convert to Islam based on their good conduct.

Army Confirms Loss of Lives, Property In Edo Communal Clash

The Nigerian Army on Wednesday confirmed the loss of several lives and property in a communal clash in Ukhuorumi, Oredo Local Government Area of Edo.

Capt. Roslyn Managbe, the Public Relations Officer, 4 Brigade, Nigerian Army, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on in Benin.

"We have yet to make any arrest; we arrived at the location after the damage had been done. We are on ground to forestall any further crisis and to bring peace back to the community", she said

Witnesses, who spoke to NAN on the condition of anonymity, said that the clash was between members of Ukhuorumi Community Development Association (CDA) loyal to two rival leaders of the association.

"As we speak, the community is deserted by the people for fear of possible reprisal attacks, as many cars and buildings were burnt by the combatants yesterday", one of the witnesses told NAN.

They said that trouble started when some CDA members, who were loyal to the association's vice chairman, allegedly tried to wrest power from the incumbent chairman.

"The reaction that followed was spontaneous, as gunshots rent the air.

"Several cars and houses, belonging to members of the two opposing factions, were torched in the ensuing fight and not less than 10 persons reportedly died in the fracas", another witness said.

Lawmakers Drafting Bill To End Discrimination Against HND Holders

Some legislators are drafting a bill seeking to end alleged discrimination of Higher National Diploma (HND) holders, a member of the House of Representatives said on Wednesday.

Rep. Aminu Suleiman, the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Education, told newsmen in Lagos that the bill would soon be presented to the House.

"Some of us are working on the bill so that nobody will call it a motion.

"We will solicit the support of our colleagues in the House, and with God and Nigerians on our side, once it is passed, we will push it for assent", he said.

He said that the discrimination against HND holders by degree holders was unnecessary.

The chairman, however, did not say how soon the bill will be ready.

Sultan Renews Call For Muslims To Live Peacefully With Christians

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa'ad Abubakar III, on Tuesday declared that Islam abhors the killing of any innocent souls.

"The Sokoto Sultanate Council, all traditional rulers and the generality of the Muslims, have dissociated themselves from such dastardly acts.

"Islam abhors the killing of any innocent souls without following the due legal processes,'' Abubakar said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Abubakar spoke when the former head of state, Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar (rtd), paid him a courtesy call.

"We are always committed to the growth and development of Islamic religion, but in line with its teachings and law.

"Muslims should even persuade non-Muslims to join the religion by their good conduct and strict adherence to the Islamic law.

"We should, therefore, live peacefully with our Christian brothers and not attempt to kill them,'' the Sultan said.

The Sultan commended Abubakar for his dexterity and commitment to peace and unity in Nigeria, and globally.

Earlier, Abubakar extolled the sterling virtues of the Sultan, describing him as a pillar of peace, unity and peaceful coexistence.

"The Sultan has been facilitating peace, unity and understanding between Muslims and Christians in Nigeria and beyond,'' the former head of state said.

He stressed the need for the use of dialogue to resolve all the problems of Nigeria, adding that this could be done in spite of the diverse religious, cultural and ethnic differences.

Abubakar, who told the Sultan that he was in Sokoto to inaugurate the state university, commended Governor Aliyu Wamakko for transforming the state.

Sokoto Govt Discovers 4,000 Ghost Teachers On Payroll – Official

The Secretary of Sokoto State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Alhaji Ibrahim Dingyadi, says the state government has discovered about 4,000 ghost primary school teachers on its payroll.

"The ghost teachers were uncovered after four-month verification of all the teachers in the 1,965 primary schools across the state,'' Dingyadi told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Sokoto on Tuesday.

The secretary said the exercise was conducted jointly with the state chapter of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) and the state House of Assembly's Committee on Education.

Dingyadi also said the exercise was successfully conducted between July and October 2013.

He said the salaries of teachers in the state during the period were paid through table payments.

"The exercise became imperative as a result of the implementation of the new national minimum wage of N18,000 for the teachers.

"As at now, we are on the verge of completing the computation of the amount of money saved as a result of the discovery of the ghost teachers," Dingyadi said.

The SUBEB secretary restated the state government's commitment to do everything humanly possible to fully revamp the primary and junior secondary education sub-sector in the state.

Jim Iyke is Responsible for My Pregnancy ––Lagos Babe Nancy

These are not the best of times for actor James Ikechukwu, aka Jim Iyke, who is already preparing to marry his sweetheart, actress Nadia Buari. Jim has been caught in the middle of a pregnancy scandal that is causing a huge storm in his love affair with Nadia and it seems the young girl he allegedly impregnated also spent her father's money on him, OluFamous.Com gathered.

The girl's name is Nancy Alofinaka, she is the daughter of a Lagos-based business man...
She is said to be a graduate of Mass Communication from the University of Calabar. Her pregnancy became a subject of controversial recently and when he father pressed her to tell him who is responsible she said she has been having a secret affair with Jim Iyke and that he's the father of her unborn baby.

Nancy also alleged that Jim Iyke collected about N2million from her in the guise that he needed money to do some renovation work in his apartment in Lagos.

These allegations are so weighty that OluFamous.Com has contacted Jim Iyke and we are waiting for him to either deny or confirm knowing this girl, Nancy. We will bring you his reaction.

I hear Nadia Buari is already claiming that Nancy was paid to blackmail Jim Iyke. But how true is her claim?

BREAKING NEWS: Another Plane Crash Averted In Abuja

Barely a month after the Associated Airlines plane crash, another air disaster was averted at the Nnamdi Azikwe Airport, Abuja on Monday as a Med-View Airlines aircraft from Lagos suddenly took to the air again at the point of landing in Abuja.

Puch reports that the airline Flight VL2104 which had about 150 passengers on board took off from the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos at noon and was scheduled to land in Abuja at about 1.05pm.

The pilot had already announced final descent into Abuja and asked all passengers and cabin crew to fasten their seat belts only for him to suddenly take off to the air again with barely 30 seconds to touch ground.
Definitely, his action caused big panic, commotion among the passengers who bursted into prayers, yells to know what was happening, especially when the plane entered into turbulent weather on air.

The PUNCH correspondent who was among the passengers while telling his story, said that among the passengers were five different complete families.
One of the passengers, a nursing mother, who was breastfeeding her son at the time the pilot took off again withdrew the breast from the boy's mouth and started praying profusely while the baby's cry rented the air.

It wasn't until after about three minutes of gaining altitude, the pilot announced that he had decided to take off again to avoid colliding with an aircraft that was on ground.
According to the pilot, after he had been granted clearance to land, it was later discovered that the other aircraft was not fast enough, hence his decision to take off.

The aircraft hovered for another 20 minutes in the air before finally landing at about 1:30pm.

When the plane finally landed, the passengers struggled to disembark.
"Are you still sitting down? Let me rush down in case it will suddenly take off again," a middle-aged man was heard asking one of his co-passengers.

Disaster: As Gov Oshiomole Shun His Committee [VIDEO]

CLICK HERE TO WATCH THE VIDEO

The meeting of the Presidential Advisory Committee on National Dialogue (PACND) with the stakeholders in the South-South ended in confusion, following an outburst from participants against a remark made by Governor Adams Oshiomhole.

Pius Nsogho reported that Governor Oshiomhole was whisked away from the venue of PACND by his security when the situation became tense.

Later Edo State Government has released the official press statement. It blamed alleged PDP 'thugs' for disrupting the proceedings of the PACND in Benin City, when they stopped Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State and others from making contributions to the ongoing talks.

Col Tony Nyiam (rtd), a member of the Presidential Advisory Committee, is believed to be the arrowhead of the disruption as he shouted down the Governor while making his contribution.

The Governor who took the stage to make his contribution shortly after the Isoko Ethnic group had made their contribution said he objected to spending huge public funds on a wasteful venture saying, during the tenure of President Olusegun Obasanjo, money was spent on similar conference and at the end, nothing came out of that conference.

But as soon as Governor Oshiomhole made this statement, committee member, Col Nyiam jumped on his feet and would perhaps have lunged at the Governor were he close to him. He was restrained by other members who were taken aback by his action.

Even while the Governor was still making his contribution, Nyiam started screaming at the top of his voice for the Governor to shut up and sit down. He was then joined in by the PDP 'thugs' who disrupted the whole proceedings and many scampered for safety as a result of the unruliness of the committee member and thugs.

The Governor who insisted on concluding his remarks however yielded the floor when the thugs were getting violent.

After leaving the PACND meeting Gov. Oshiomhole lamented that fifty-three years after independence, "Nigerians still prefer to look at themselves from their ethnic origin rather than being Nigerians, saying, "for me, I am just a Nigerian".

"Nigeria does need a serious reflection about how to return to those core values that made Nigeria work before. Those healthy competition between the governments, visit the whole question of attitude and unless that changes, I do not see how any dialogue can work", he said.

Earlier the Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee on National Dialogue/Conference, Senator Femi Okurounmu said they were in Benin as part of their to the six geo political zones to get their input as regards the content of the agenda, the duration, choice of delegation and legal framework.

Bad girl, Maheeda has been the rave of the moment on all social networks over the internet, the pictures she's been sharing kept on revealing more skin than the last shared.

In the late hours of yesterday, it seems macro-photo social site, Instagram, must had received a lot of reports for users or probably noticed themselves and decided to finally block Maheeda's Instagram account.

These were the last photos Maheeda uploaded before she was blocked!!

haliwud1 haliwud2

But nooooo, that wasn't going to stop Maheeda from spreading her own special kind of gospel message.

I woke up in the early hours of this morning and the first message on my BBM is from Maheeda, she was alerting her friends, fans, followers and HATERS, that her Instagram account had been blocked but she had created another one immediately.

haliwud5 (2)

I brushed off the sleep from my eyes and went on Instagram to check up on Maheeda's new page and as you can see below, that's her new Instagram and handle.

haliwud3

To my surprise, In less than 3hrs, Maheeda already had 59 followers.

haliwud3

I checked it out just now and trust me you'd be surprised by the number of followers she has already amassed.

And they say indecency doesn't pay *sigh*

If Peace Talks Fail, G-7 Govs May Decamp To APC – Kwankwaso

Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of Kano State has hinted that one of the four options open to the seven aggrieved governors of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, otherwise referred to as G-7 Governors, is to decamp to the mega opposition party, All Progressives Congress (APC).

The other options available to the G-7 Governors include finalizing the ongoing reconciliation effort by President Goodluck Jonathan, aligning forces with a small, unpopular party, and that of floating a new political party

The G-7 Governors are currently locked in a battle of supremacy and party structure control with the national leadership of the PDP led by Alhaji Bamanga Tukur and Mr. Jonathan, who they have repeatedly told to respect the terms of the agreement he signed with some PDP governors prior to the 2011 general elections that he would not seek a second term in office.

Gov. Kwankwaso made these views known in Abuja yesterday when he spoke on the Hausa service of Vision FM radio.

The governor decried what he termed the lack of will to address the group's grievances by both the party leadership and the President even though his Jigawa State counterpart – Sule Lamido – was a member of the G-34 that gave birth to the PDP in 1998.

He said: "All that we demanded from the party and government, which we see as the way forward for the party, none was fulfilled. Therefore it is surprising to see a party that is toying with its warfront commanders".

Kwankwaso also said, "We already have four ways out of this crisis if they can't meet up our concerns. One is the dialogue, which is still going on, or joining a small party, and then some people offered floating a new party, yet some are of the view of joining APC. We don't want to leave the party. But if leaving PDP is what will only save our states and people, we will leave it. As such, we call on people to support us on that, because our concern is to ward off anything that will harm our people".

Asked what their actual grouse is with the Tukur-led National Working Committee of PDP, Kwankwaso said, "We want them to address the Rivers crisis where the PDP leadership was sacked. Amaechi himself, he won [NGF] election with 18 votes, I was there. But someone with 16 claimed to win the election. Then in Adamawa, we said the problem there should be addressed and other things that we said need to be resolved".

The Kano State governor also reiterated his rejection of the proposed national dialogue, which he said is only being supported by people, who he said want to "enjoy the luxury of Abuja hotels and receive government money when the conference ends."

He added, "I do not support this dialogue. I said this on the same day the President announced it. It is going to be a waste of resources, waste of time and at the end of the day it may even elicit another problem which was not envisaged by those who came up with the idea initially.

"I am personally not in support of it. But this is politics, so we will convene an elders meeting in Kano. When I was the Defense Minister a similar conference was held and a lot of money was spent. But if you ask me now where is the report of that conference? I do not know where it is."

The Kano governor rather advised the federal government to inject the money to be spent on organizing the national conference in developmental projects across the country.

World’s Tallest Man Finds Love with Woman Who Barely Reaches His Waist

The world's tallest man — 8-foot-3-inch Sultan Kosen of Turkey — says he would like to find a comfortable car for himself and his bride.

Kosen was set to marry Merve Dibo — who's about two-and-a-half feet shorter than he — Sunday in the Turkish city of Mardin, the Anadolu Agency reported.

While preparing for his wedding, the Guinness Book of World Records-certified tallest man in the world told Anadolu Agency he had given up hope that he'd meet a life partner when an acquaintance introduced him to Dibo.

"Now I will have my own family and private life," Kosen said.

While saying it was "unfortunate I could not find a suitable girl of my own size," Kosen said, "but I believe I've found the person for me."

Kosen said all he really wanted now was a vehicle that can accommodate his frame so he can travel comfortably with Dibo, the news agency said.

Besides his record height, Kosen also is in the Guinness records because of his nearly 9-inch-wide hands and 14-plus-inch-long feet.

ASUU Slams David Mark Over Onosode Comments, Asks Him To Make His Salary Public

University of Ibadan chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has asked the Senate President, David Mark to apologise to the leader of Government negotiation with ASUU, Deacon Gamaliel Onosode over alleged disparaging comments.

This formed part of the resolutions of the union at the end of a congress in the institution, weekend, signed by the chairman of the ASUU at the university, Dr. Olusegun Ajiboye.

According to him, instead of the senator condemning the leader of the government delegation in 2009, the elder statesman "deserved respect as a man of proven integrity, and impeccable character," because of his pedigree.

While advising the Senate to be concerned with the plight of Nigerian masses and teach youths the sanctity of obeying agreements, the union recalled that President Goodluck Jonathan as the then Vice President had instructed the government team to sign the agreement.

Following discussion on the details of the agreement on the floor of the Senate, Mark was quoted to have said: "For those who negotiated on behalf of the Federal Government with ASUU in October 2009, the facts made available to us today by the chairman of the Senate Committee on Education, Uche Chukwumerije, showed that they are people who do not know their right from their left and, in the process, put the Federal Government into the problem it is facing today, because when the agreements were read out, I thought they were mere proposals, only for Chukwumerije to confirm that they signed the largely unimplementable agreements characterised by payment of  all manner of allowances."

The union alleged that Senate President acted ignorantly on the true position of the 2009 FGN/ASUU agreement even as a sitting Senate President at the time.

"The vituperation of the Senate President shows the character of those leading us as unpatriotic and foreign to happenings within the country".

The union further challenged the senate president to publish his salaries and allowances to Nigerians.

"The Congress considered the personality of Deacon Gamaliel Onosode, an alumnus of the University College Ibadan, who has served as the Chairman of Governing councils of UI and UNILAG, a great successful businessman who has served the country in various intervention capacities. The congress condemns these disparaging comments and demands that the Senate President apologises to this elder statesman.

"Can we actually trust these characters to midwife any intervention with a bias and myopic construction myth makes right? Where else in the world are senators earning bogus allowances as we have in the National Assembly? Salaries of University lecturers have been by NUC, we challenge the Revenue Allocation, Mobilisation and Fiscal commission to publish salaries and allowance of the senate president David Mark for Nigerians to see how patriotic he is to the true state of the economy," the UI chapter of the union said.

Sexy Mercy Johnson Reveals All Her Inner Features

I am Mercy Johnson, an actress. I was born 29 years ago and I am the fourth child in a family of seven. My father is an ex-military officer and I left my mother at the age of two to live with him. Due to the nature of his job, he was constantly transferred from one station to another. I am proud of him because he taught me all I needed to know from childhood to adulthood.

Movie industry I have grown with time and there have been good and bad times. There have been rumours and scandals. Sometimes, when I cry in movies, it wasn't the script that made me cry. Rather, I reflect on my humble beginning and the height I've attained now. This makes me cry. Journey into acting After my secondary school education, I approached a friend for assistance to feature in a movie. He took me to the National Theatre, Lagos, but a role did not come until a year later. My first lead role was in a film titled, 'The Maid.' It was quite challenging to interprete because it was my first movie. When I saw the veterans on set, I fidgeted. A star actress Life is in phases and I cannot say I have reached the peak of my profession. I have not even won an Oscar yet! There is always a higher mountain to climb, a new vision to fulfill and I am at that point. I want to achieve new and greater dreams. Fulfillment The greatest fulfillment is the ability to influence people positively through my acting. Challenges Life is not a bed of roses; it comes with challenges which make me stronger and who I am. Nollywood: Then and now We have achieved feats which the old Nollywood did not achieve. It is all about progression and I am sure that in the future, Nollywood will achieve a greater feat than it is doing currently. Relationship My husband is loving and he is an understanding man.

I am so happy to be married to him. I acted a movie, 'Baby Oku in America' when I was heavily pregnant and he didn't feel bad about it. He understands that I am an actor and sometimes, we need real life situations, like the pregnancy, to interpret a role. Not many men would allow their wife do that. Scandals They are all lies. I just think the media needs to do their verification well before they put any story out. Whenever I read all manner of lies about me in the media, I wonder where all of these came from and regret being an actor. But in all, I move on and take it as one of the hazards of the job. I am fulfilled as an actor. Mercy Johnson Foundation I floated the foundation because of my love for the less privileged. One of my greatest joys is to see other people happy. I want to make lasting impact in my society.

The objective is to identify the needs of the less privilege, evaluate them and help in our own little way. I strongly believe that as movie stars, we should live beyond the euphoria of stardom. A sexy woman It is inbuilt. It's just how you feel about yourself. For me, being sexy is confidence. It mustn't be about the hairstyle or the accessories or the big buttocks. It's about you, liking yourself just the way you are. Motherhood My husband is a wonderful man. He makes my job easier and helps carry our daughter, Purity. He feeds her and she misses him whenever he is not around. As a family, we understand one another and we make whatever adjustments we have to make in order to have a good home. Success The challenges I faced have yielded results and I am reaping the fruits of all my efforts.

I have grown from nobody in the industry to becoming a top actress from Africa. To God be all the glory. To be an actress Talent is never enough you must constantly brush up your talent but training can come in different form. You only need to ensure that in whatever form, you are not just relying on your inborn talent. Projects There are many but I'm not permitted to disclose them yet. They will start unfolding soon. Fear My worst fear will be to leave this earth without making a huge impact. Fashion I don't wear what is in vogue or what everybody is wearing, I just wear what suits me and I'm lucky to have a physique that encourages everything I wear. My husband is a huge critic, so when he pays compliments to my dressing, I feel so good. He doesn't believe that exposing anything makes you look better. He feels when you cover up, you look real nice. To upcoming actors Be yourself and let your talent speak for you. Don't come into the industry because you want to be famous, but because you love the art of acting. Then try to appreciate those who were there before you.

MEND’s Propaganda Reflection Of Drowning Gangsters – JTF

The Joint Task Force (JTF) in the Niger Delta codenamed 'Operation Pulo Shield' has vowed to descend heavily on the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) over its activities in the region.

Reacting to a statement credited to MEND's spokesman, Jomo Gbomo that the group was responsible for the killing of soldiers in a community between Rivers and Bayelsa states, the hijack of a vessel from which two American sailors were kidnapped and the fire incident in the Warri Petrochemical refinery, JTF scoffed at the claims describing them as the 'grandiose illusion' of drowning gangsters.

The media coordinator of JTF, Lt. Col Onyeama Nwachukwu while reacting to the pronouncement, stressed that MEND did not cause the fire incident at the Warri Refinery neither were the soldiers that died in Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State killed by MEND soldiers.

Nwachukwu stated that the JTF would soon clamp down on MEND just like it has been able to smoke out other criminals causing instability in the region in the recent past.

His statement read in part: "These claims are a reflection of the grandiose illusion of drowning gangsters.

"It is no longer news that their insatiable and desperate desire to conjure up a seeming apocalypse in order to make the world see the Niger Delta as insecure has again failed, as they have continuously fed the public with lies of a grossly failed 'Hurricane Exodus'.

"The NNPC Warri refinery fire incident, which the NNPC have clearly stated was accidental and occurred when their engineers were working in the top unit of the refinery, is a crystal clear example of the false claims of these criminals.

"Our troops in the Andoni incident defended the civilians they escorted gallantly by ensuring their safety. How come the so called MEND did not claim responsibility before now as they would have usually done?

"It is simply because they had no knowledge of it until we made it public and ridiculously they have jumped at it for self glorification.

"This claim is therefore an afterthought. The Merchant vessel named Retriever hijacked off the coast by unknown pirates was not at all escorted. It is a Merchant vessel, which had no escort and no JTF presence, how then could JTF have suffered casualty in that incident?" he asked.

70 Year Old Woman Is Murdered By Her Son; Son Says She Attacked Him First

A woman aged 70 met her death at the hands of her son after she became adamant that the son must pay up his father's debt.

The incident which took place at Batagarawa Local Government in Katsina was described by the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Mohammed Hurdi.

He explained that the ugly incident happened on August 5, 2013 when Usman went to visit his mother, who had remarried following her divorce from Usman's father.

Once he got to his mother's new home, Usman saw his mother quarrelling with her mate and he succeeded in separating the fight.

The deceased is said to have later on asked her son whether his father (the ex-husband) sent the money he owed her through him.

The now murder suspect told his mother that his father never owed her any money; and that he had not visited his father for some time.

That must have angered the deceased who is claimed to have from there attacked the son. The son responded to the aggression by axing his mother's neck.

Usman told the press that he had confessed to the crime to the police. He is a divorcee himself and has five children. He said, "I divorced my wife because she loves to look at other men outside."

Usman narrated the turn of events saying after separating the fight between his late mother and her mate, the co-wife had left "to prepare food for us, but my mother refused to eat the food.

"Instead my mother was asking me to pay the debts of my father. I told her that my father didn't owe her any money. She didn't take it easy with me.

"She started to attack me seriously and I went with annoyance and brought out my axe and hit her neck. She fell to the ground."

Usman ran out of fear "to the farm to hide myself so that nobody can see me. Later I came out from the farm and discovered that my mother was actually dead."

He was subsequently arrested by the policemen in Batagarawa. The police say he has confessed everything at the State CID.

He is currently remanded at the Katsina state police headquarters being interrogated further.
