Chelsea parted with near £70million in the summer to bring in an illustrious list of new recruits to bolster the squad in all departments, including the likes of Willian, Marco Van Ginkel, Andre Schurrle and Samuel Eto'o.
Jose Mourinho has a Blues squad at his disposal that can claim quality and depth in every area and is more than capable of challenging for the Premier League title. But the Portuguese is reportedly still planning on tailoring his Stamford Bridge squad in January, with a select few departures and some new additions.
As always, the West Londoners are linked with a wide variety of potential transfer targets in the tabloids, but not all of them are up to Chelsea's high standards.
With that in mind, here's FIVE January targets reportedly on Mourinho's radar that the Blues gaffer should avoid at all costs, because they simply wont make the grade in West London.
Javier Pastore
The Blues have been linked with PSG playmaker Javier Pastore, who has failed to live up to expectations in the French capital since his £40million switch from Palermo in 2011.
Mario Balotelli
Many in England, including myself, have a soft spot for Mario Balotelli, with his childish antics and outrageous goals, and it does seem that the farcical nature of the Premier League suits his troublesome yet enigmatic personality.
Sami Khedira
According to the German, Manchester United plotted a £40million ill-fated bid for him in the summer, and recent reports in the tabloids have suggested Jose Mourinho is very interested in bringing him to Stamford Bridge.
Victor Valdez
Not a January target per se, but the idea of Chelsea snapping up Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdez is so absurd that I felt obliged to include him in this list.
Burak Yilmaz
Despite the recent revival in form of Fernando Torres, many of the Stamford Bridge faithful would like to see a new striker brought in during the January transfer window who can guarantee goals.
