His okada was seized by the officers of the Oyo State Commercial Vehicle Registration Unit when his papers were discovered to be fake. Pronto, the poor man threw himself before and oncoming trailer and then did the same with an SUV. Eyewitnesses say that the okada man tried begging the officers but when he saw that they were not ready to listen to him, he attempted to take his own life by jumping in front two oncoming vehicles. He shouted: "Let me end this life, it is too much for me".
Luckily for him, there were kind-hearted Nigerians in the area who rescued him on both suicidal attempts. He later went into shock and was said to have started foaming in the mouth. Policemen later arrived at the scene and catapulted him to the hospital. But wait o, why are original documents of vehicles difficult for Nigerians to procure. Why do the road safety/vehicle inspection officers and their ilk like making life difficult for people? They will be the one to issue you a license and they will also declare it to be fake. Inasmuch as I will not encourage flouting of the laws, the relevant bodies should also make life easy for Nigerians when it comes to registration of our vehicles (computerize the thing and stop terrorizing people on the streets, na only poor people you sabi ask for particulars!). No need to extort anyone simply because they want to get their particulars. As for the okada man, please get well soon. Make you no die now, your family loves you
